IAAP Statement on Respectful Conduct at Events

The International Association of Applied Psychology (IAAP) is committed to fostering a professional, respectful, and inclusive environment at all IAAP-endorsed events, including the International Congress of Applied Psychology (ICAP), the Early Career Marathon (ECM), the Advanced Research Training Seminar (ARTS), and related activities.

IAAP events bring together participants from a wide range of cultural, national, linguistic, and professional backgrounds. This diversity is a strength and calls for a shared commitment to respectful engagement.

All participants, including members, speakers, organizers, and guests, are expected to:

  • Treat others with respect, professionalism, and consideration;
  • Engage in scientific discussion in a constructive and collegial manner;
  • Be mindful of cultural differences in communication and behavior;
  • Avoid conduct that could reasonably be experienced as discrimination, harassment, intimidation, or abuse.

IAAP encourages open scientific dialogue, including discussion of complex or sensitive topics. Such discussions should remain focused on their scientific dimensions and be conducted in a respectful and professional manner.

If a participant experiences or observes conduct that is concerning or inconsistent with these expectations, they are encouraged to bring it to the attention of an IAAP representative, who will work to ensure the concern is addressed appropriately.

IAAP takes concerns about conduct seriously and will seek to address them in a manner that supports a respectful and constructive environment for all participants.

By participating in an IAAP event, individuals acknowledge these expectations and agree to uphold them.
